Andy
I normally saw Andy when ARC was hosting a Run To The Sign event.
I was surprised to see him at the Pasadena Marathon. The Marathon was not a point to point event. So I saw Andy at mile 22 or so. He was headed back to the finish line, so he stopped for a photo op, and made sure to tell me that the enormous hill he had just climb and I was about to climb was not a hill, but just a figment of my imagination.
Well Andy, you lied, but with good intentions. The worst place to include a hill…mile 21 when most runners tend to hit a wall. Well I hit that wall hard, but it crushed me.
I had been wanting to quit since mile nine, and after the crush, I really wanted to, but my rabbit was not hearing that. He kept pushing me…enough for me to earn 3rd place in my division.
I saw Andy at the finish line with his wife, you’d been crewing him all along.
I did take the opportunity to thank him for the little lie he told me before I headed up the incline from hell.
