Coming in strong near the finish line at the Puerto Rico Marathon/Half Marathon. I always wanted a medal from my native land. Once I heard about the Puerto Rico Marathon/Half Marathon, I had to register. I knew it was going to be challenge because, I had never trained in the humidity.
My only training in this type of weather was very limited. I only had finished a few hours in the heat & humidity. I had finished a 5K during one of my previous visits, but the particular race stated after 5 PM, due the extreme heat and humidity. The 5K was in March, and so was the Marathon/Half Marathon. I was a little nervous and glad the race started before sunrise. I was hoping that I would complete the race before the temperature and humidity rose. The final miles were a challenge but the view of the Atlantic Ocean was breathtaking and distracting. I also enjoyed running through the misters. I appreciated the cool mist and certainly would race again in my Homeland under similar conditions. I did manage to place in my division, so I received (2) medals. One was for finishing and the other for my performance.
